Skip to contentSERF, a manufacturer of orthopedic implants, recently acquired a new final cleaning line from Cleansonic. This new machine enables SERF to double its productivity and clean up to 400,000 implants per year while significantly conserving water resources.
In this article, we will explore the features of this Pluritank cleaning line, focusing on its efficiency and cost-effectiveness in terms of water consumption. We will also discuss the importance of this new strategic partnership for the company.
Dive into the world of innovation in orthopedic implant cleaning and discover how SERF and Cleansonic are pushing the boundaries to deliver products of exceptional quality.
SERF’s new ultrasonic cleaning line has been specifically designed to meet the needs of orthopedic implant manufacturers.
Thanks to optimizations in the control software and the use of appropriately sized tanks, productivity has doubled. The use of a PLC allows for the management of priorities and the sequence of the robot’s actions, based on contact times in the baths.
Data Matrix codes will be added to identify each swing and allow the controller to select the appropriate program without human intervention.
SERF’s new final cleaning line has also been designed to conserve water. In fact, this machine can clean twice as many implants while using 40 times less water (23 L/h) compared to the previous machine.
On a mirror-polished surface, it is essential that cleaning leaves no streaks. The Pluritank cleaning line rises to the challenge.
This coated hip prosthesis is one of the most difficult SERF implants to clean.
To successfully carry out this project to acquire the new final cleaning line, SERF has chosen to partner with Cleansonic.
“For this project, we needed a reliable and highly committed partner,” says Stéphane Jardiau, Director of Production & Supply Chain at SERF.
This is not their first collaboration, as he had previously praised Cleansonic’s dedication and professionalism during the retrofit of two earlier cleaning systems, which were completed within tight deadlines. The project involved a complete overhaul of the automation and programming, as well as the safety systems and wiring for the inter-operation and final cleaning equipment.
The company fully met SERF’s expectations by adhering to the schedule and delivering a service of impeccable quality.
The SERF teams did not hesitate to entrust this new project to Cleansonic, which once again brought its full expertise and know-how to bear, thereby ensuring complete control over the cleaning process and optimal cleaning results.
As of today, the cleaning line has been installed and is undergoing acceptance testing. Following that, all necessary qualification phases will be carried out, which should allow production to begin by the end of the year.
By choosing Cleansonic, SERF was able to rely on a single point of contact who was able to meet its specific needs. The collaboration between the two companies has been fruitful, reflecting a relationship built on trust and a shared commitment to excellence.
By acquiring a new, high-performance, environmentally friendly final cleaning line, the orthopedic implant manufacturer was able to double its productivity while significantly conserving water resources.
